What is charge?

Charge is a status effect in Limbus Company (and Library of Ruina but it costs money so I don't have it) that units can gain and spend to use on attacks. All status effects in the game are separated by Potency and Count. I'd explain it but it isn't really relevant to charge as a whole. Most IDs/units gain count and spend it, and potency remains at 1. There are some though that do more damage when they have charge potency, like W Corp Outis, the Multicrack IDs, and R Corp Hong Lu. On any unit that doesn't spend it, charge is practically useless.

All units are aligned with a faction that have their own gimmick, with 5 using charge. Those factions are W Corp, R Corp, Multicrack Office, Rosespanner Workshop, and some of the Walpurgisnacht-exclusive Lobotomy Corporation.

All units have 4 skills (3 for attacking, 1 defending. With the exception of Lobotomy E.G.O:: In the Name of Love and Hate Don Quixote and Sword Lobotomy E.G.O:: Sword Sharpened by Tears Rodion who have 7 and 8 skills respectively.). For most charge units (mainly R and W Corp) the first and second skills (and sometimes defense) gain charge with the third skill spending it to output a massive amount of damage.

However, charge identities work differently later on, that being the Multicrack IDs, R Corp Hong Lu, and ITNOLAH Don Quixote. Instead, they must gain charge count from their first and third skills and convert it into charge potency for increased damage overall. (and losing the friendly fire status for r hong lu specifically.)

Types of Charge

other than regular charge, we have some unique and charge-related status effects.

• charge barrier ()- gives (charge barrier value x3) shield hp to a unit (x5 if a w corp unit), and then just becomes regular charge equal to its value the next turn. it's just free hp.
• load ()- specific to warp outis and her dimension shredder e.g.o. buffs damage output of skills that spend charge. the buff percentage is higher for w corp units.
• photoelectricity ()- when inflicted on an enemy, hitting the enemy causes the unit to gain charge by its stack. (ex: attack an enemy with 2 photoelectricity, gain 2 charge) specific to multicrack heathcliff.
• spark discharge ()- when inflicted on an enemy, hitting the enemy causes the unit to gain 1 charge, and inflicts 1 rupture when hit by a gloom skill. (gloom is 1 of the 7 attack affinities. it's like pokemon types but not as many and weaknesses/strengths aren't guaranteed.)
• red eyes ()- unique charge for red eyes and penitence ryoshu. buffs attack, spent on her third skill. inflicts more bleed.
• penitence ()- unique charge for lobotomy e.g.o:: red eyes and penitence ryoshu. buffs attack, spent on her third skill. unit gains shield hp by its value.

if both red eyes and penitence value is over 15, it activates an upgraded version of the third skill.

• love/hate () - unique charge for lobotomy e.g.o:: in the name of love and hate don quixote. when 10 count is spent, converts to 1 potency, dealing +2% damage for each potency with a max of +10% damage. count is spent on third skill, with the animation and voiceline changing if enough count is spent. ( "arcana beats"->"arcana slave")
• deep tears () - unique charge for lobotomy e.g.o:: sword sharpened by tears rodion. unlike love/hate, does not interact with charge potency.
• tear-sharpened () - unique status for lobotomy e.g.o:: sword sharpened by tears rodion. increases the amount of deep tears gained by 5, but also decreases sanity by its value x15. HOWEVER this is not a bad thing, in fact it is OPTIMAL because her moveset changes to that of a DPS when her sanity is in the negatives, leading to her dealing insane damage!!!! (when her sanity is in the positives, she's more of a tank.)
• love/justice () - exclusive to the Walpurgisnacht VI- Hatred and Despair Knight of Despair boss fight ally unit Queen of Hatred. inflicts +1 rupture potency for each stack. technically charge i guess????
